Guest/Partner History Trip
Meet in the Hotel Jay Lobby!

The group will be shuttled to Derby Line for a tour of the Haskell Opera House, a unique facility that straddles the U.S./Canada border. Pose for photos inside the library with one foot in Canada and the other in the U.S. From there we will take a short scenic drive south to Brownington and the Old Stone House Museum. There, we’ll learn about Alexander Twilight, a black man who graduated from Middlebury College and is claimed to be the first African American to earn a baccalaureate from an American college or university. He was a minister, a teacher, and a principal in Vermont. A box lunch will be provided to eat on the grounds of the museum.
